Movement and voyeurism

I like watching how people move. There are certain people I really like watching move and dance. And maybe that's super creepy but it's true. Today when I had my modern dance final I super enjoyed watching people dance. I enjoyed that because Steven took of his shirt you could see the muscles in his back move as he danced. I thought it was fascinating. I love watching Matt dance. There is something about it that is mesmerizing. Same with Preston. And the two of them together was simply fascinating. I don't like watching me dance. There's always something that I could do better. Or differently.

I will miss that super supportive class that I had this semester. I had closed myself off again. I had learned to open up in high school through theater and dance and 4-H but I lost it when I got to college. I closed myself off from touching people or opening up to them and I'm slowly breaking down that wall again. I missed theater. I still miss it. But this dance class and tradition is helping. A lot. I'm so thankful for that.

Doctor Who

I'm about to make this a Doctor Who appreciation blog.

I am almost done with season 6 and Matt Smith as the doctor is so very different from David Tennent. It's fascinating to watch the difference. The difference that Moffat has is also fascinating. Rather than a bunch of seemingly stand alone episodes that all come together at the very end, the new Who is more serialized with everything interconnecting from each episode. It's different and I'm still not too sure how I feel about it but I'm getting there.

Each of the Doctors has been amazing. I loved Christopher Ecclaston. I thought he was brilliant during the season that he was on. And then David Tennant came on. And holy gods is David Tennent perfect as the Doctor. He's just so completely brilliant. He had brilliant chemistry with all of his companions and crazy adventures. And then he got a bit too big for his britches. But the way that he went was so perfect. It was honestly just brilliant. I cried a bit. Not gonna lie.

Then Matt Smith showed up. And he's ridiculous. He's like a child, which the Doctor needed after all that had happened. His companions are wonderful so far. I love seeing the love they have for each other. Rory and Amy love each other through all of time and space. It's remarkable. And fabulous. I just appreciate that being shown. I also love the craziness of River Song. So random, so brilliant. I just ahhh. This show. It just has made me obsessed. And I'm going to end up watching all sorts of spin offs and following a bunch of blogs and basically I'm a mess. As per usual..

The differences of arts classes

I figured out the differences of a performance art class versus a traditional academic class! In traditional classes the learning and knowledge is left completely up to you. If you don't know the information you don't pass. It's solely about the individual in most cases. If you don't do the work the only person you are hurting is yourself. The obvious exception to this is group projects. But even then there's more of an emphasis on the individual.

In performance art classes often the emphasis is on the group as a cohesive unit. If you don't do the work you are hurting not only yourself but the whole class. In choir if you don't know your part you can put the whole choir out of tune. Same with band or orchestra. And as a consequence the group won't sound as great as they could. The same idea is evident in dance or theater classes. Obviously your own skill is often focused on in both but if you aren't trying to be the best you can, the class is held back. And if you are learning choreography or a scene your information is just as important as everyone else. If you don't know your choreography the dance isn't going to look together and will look sloppy. If you don't know your scene work the scene isn't going to work. We are accountable to the other people in the class. This produces a closeness in these classes. You are creating something together and everyone's contributions are important. You also often get to know people on a deeper level because the things taught in these courses directly relate to life and individual experiences. I just really enjoy performance art classes. I find them fun and a great way to meet and learn about other people and yourself. It's wonderful :D

Blogging

It's an interesting thing. It allows people to get to know you on a level different from the face to face conversations you might otherwise be having with them. I think in some ways it's a really great thing. I know more about my friends through tumblr and their other blogs than I would if we didn't have these forms of communication. But at the same time there is almost a need to overshare. To tell everyone everything. Which isn't always the best way to go about things. It's ok to sometimes keep things private or to yourself.

I'm not even sure what I'm saying. I had a point earlier today but it's gone from my brain now. I think basically I wanted to say that I enjoy blogging but I think there are some limitations that are necessary. It certainly allows you to look back on the ridiculous things  you've said or thought in the past which isn't all bad. I rather like it. So I'm going to try this semi-legit blogging time thing where you use words rather than tumblr images... We'll see how this goes. I'm not going to link it anywhere. If people find it, awesome. If not I really don't care. It's for me.
